In the context of design and project management are used methods or charts ground to proceed in consolidate way to design so to not distract the designer from main objective.
One of these is the 5W2H method that it is based on seven questions or seven pivot points on which either the project or the designer have to respond and from which it cannot escape in the design process.
The seven questions are listed below:
- What
- Why
- Where
- When
- Who
- How
- How much
We have as secont point WHY that they are the motivations to solve or the necessities that they take to design or to reach the objectives in the context of the design or in the process of problem solving.
The third point is WHERE that it represents the place, the context or the platforms involved in the design and in the project management.
The fourth point is WHEN that they are the times necessary to the design and the development with the related maturities and deliveries.
The fifth point is WHO that they are the individuals to which the project is addressed, the actors involved in the design iter and for extension the teams that they have to design or to manage the project.
The sixth point is HOW that they are the methodologies and technologies to use for the development and the management of the project.
The seventh point is HOW MUCH that they are the money necessary or the budget to assign for the design or the project management.
The 5W2H method is a valid model not only for the design and the project management but also to validate the projects in the case of verification or of acceptance from the business angels and other stakeholders involved in the design iter.
The method consents to see the seven points not only from the point of view of designer but also from the point of view of final user, usually a consumer or service user, and it consents to the business angel to evaluate if it's possible approve the project acconding to the answer or the reaction of the possible consumers.
